Urunga Wharf Cafe

Tenori hits NSW

After a 5 hour drive from Sunny brisbane we found ourselves in Urunga for a wonderful night of singing and being interrupted by the local train. But more on that in a minute.

Well for me it actually took 6 hours to get there as my GPS system was still on analogue and sent me west instead of south. Oh, and I had to stop for some famous fried chicken half way there.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure it is famous, but when one is as hungry as I was, it was FAMOUS!

6pm - So we finally had all made the long trip to the venue and got together for sound check and the usual catch ups. As always, it is great to see Chop.

So we got on with sound check and half way through our second song, Andrew turns to us and says, "oh yeah, by the way, the train goes past every hour or so and it is really loud." And not a moment later we were greeted with said train on said track. And it was pretty LOUD.

The show was an absolute hit. The requests came thick and fast and for once there was not too many strange requests. Can anyone spell Nessun Dorma? Anyone? There was one request for some song called - "Me love you long time". I have to say I'm not to familiar with that one.. Is it a piece of lied? I'll have to look it up.

The highlight for me, though, was when the train came roaring past during one of the more sombre songs we were singing. Or course, Chop just couldn't help himself and let the puns fly thick and fast, right in the middle of my solo! Only to be joined by Andrew with his very puny wit. And puny it was!

For those of you who know and love, and got to experience the "old school" ten tenors pun wars that happened on stage, you will know how much we love this tradition. It is a ritual that has been tried by many and failed by even more. But right there, at that moment, we had gone back in time.

All in all a great night. We are back in March 2015. Hopefully we can see you there too!
